Elections

Elections can be held on the first Tuesday of March, May, August and November. Location is at the township hall (210 State St, Luther). Hall is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. A valid ID is required. Questions about the election or absentee ballots should be directed to the Clerk at 231-797-0005 or email the township.

Board of Review

Edgett’s Church 1956

The Board of Review typically meets in July, December and March. Please email the township board or contact the Assessor for the exact dates and times. Once confirmed, the Board of Review dates will also be posted at the hall. Board of Review meetings are held at the Ellsworth Township Hall.

Annual Trash Day

The annual trash clean-up will be held on the 3rd Saturday in August from 8:00 a.m. to noon beside the Luther Newkirk Hall (301 State Street, Luther, MI 49656). Please bring your tax bill or receipt for township or village resident identification purposes. Be prepared to unload your vehicle. (Volunteers to help unload trash are always welcome.).

Accepted Items: Scrap Iron, Empty burn barrels, Refrigeration units with Freon already removed, Auto Batteries, Open paint cans with dried up paints, and Items must be Bagged, Bundled or Boxed.  

Items Not Accepted: Tires, Chemicals, hazardous waste, motor oil, liquid paint, paint thinners, yard waste and household trash, unbundled shingles. Trailers or vehicles with scrap building materials.

If there is a line, please try not to block entrances to businesses or property owner’s driveways.

Hazardous Waste Disposal

Disposal of Hazardous Waste is typically the second Saturday in October from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon). Lake County drop site is at the Wenger Pavilion in Baldwin. For more information, go to Mecosta & Osceola-Lake Conservation District website.
